It supports US business interests, and makes China more involved in the international trade system, which has more consistent/stable rules. 4. The US has been a traditional ally to Taiwan, but officially recognized mainland Chinese authority in 1978, but since 1979, the US has guaranteed to continue trade relations with Taiwan, and to help maintain its security. 8. “steadily grown” , “military strength” , “economic ties” 9. It’s the first time in 600 years that the Chinese navy had been used for a combat mission outside of China’s territorial waters.
