1. Supreme Court Justice Steven Breyer Resigns
2. Wrapping Up Constitution USA and Federalism: Who takes care of what? The Feds. v. the States v. the Locals 3. Begin Letter to a Legislator Project! A. Choose your topic. Go here to see the current bills proposed by members of congress. Find a bill that you support and read the information about it. Make sure you understand the bill (what problem is it addressing and how does it plan to solve that problem). It will be important for you to also find out if it is being proposed by a member of the House or Senate. B. Determine who you will be writing your letter to. If the bill is being proposed in the Senate, choose one of our two senators (Susan Collins or Angus King). If it is being proposed in the House, you will be writing to Maine's rep for the first Congressional district (Chellie Pingree). C. Do some research on the issue to inform your opinion on the bill. You will need to will need to provide at least two specific reasons (backed up by evidence) for supporting the bill. Be sure to save links to articles or resources you use for your research. You will need to provide me with a Resources page that cites at least three sources that you used to research your bill/issue. You Resources page must also include a brief explanation of why you believe each source to be reliable - time for some lateral reading!!!. Click here for information on how to cite your sources. HW: Nothing specific, but you should be done with steps A, B, and C!
