B. Your task: Each member of your group will first write an individual paragraph on how they see US policy from the perspective of their option. What should the US try to achieve and what current policies you agree or disagree with. The paragraph should be at least 150 words and utilize the sources linked to above. Submit to Google Classroom. C. Upon returned from lunch: Meet as a group to share thoughts and decide upon a "group" perspective - make sure everyone is on the same page for when the debate continues next class. B. Finish your Group Debate Prep Slideshow - all prepared "paragraphs" should be complete by the end of class today. When you are complete your task please let your team captain know! HW: Be ready to debate next class! Let's get ready to rumbbbbbllllleeeeee! 1. Group Debate Prep - Today you will be teaming up with the other students who have chosen the same option as you to prepare as a group for the debate on Friday!
Each group needs to do the following: 1. Assign team captain/co-captains - their role is to keep the group on task and organized. 2. Team Caption - Click here to make a copy of the Debate Prep Slideshow. Share it with the members of your group. Be sure to make them "Editors". 3. Assign members of your groups to the following tasks, which will be added to your group's Google Doc. A. Opening Statement - this should introduce the class to the basics of your option and explain why the members of your group believe that it is the best approach to US foreign policy. It should include at least three clear arguments (reasons) that support your option. Use the "Options" handout, but be sure to write it in your own words. It should be around 200-300 words. B. The Attackers - explain the major reasons that your group disagrees with each of the other options. Your group should prepare a paragraph attack on each of the other options in the debate. Each attack paragraph should include at least three arguments against the opposing option. C. Policy Beliefs - You need to prepare the viewpoints of your Option in relation to the following topics, in a paragraph each:
D. Historical Example/Current Event - You need specific examples from the past (or a recent event) of when the US took an action that matches with your option. This will be used as evidence that your option has been successful in the past. You need to write a a paragraph that summarizes the event, and explains how/why it supports the views of your option. **Each task above should be pasted into your group's Google Slides. But be sure to identify the names of the students responsible for each paragraph. HW: 1. Work on Assignment #20 - US Role in the World Position Paper*
